Our foreign students Daniela and Kevin have already left Petrozavodsk. It seems they became really good friends with their host families. We hope that they are satisfied with their study at Russian language school Enjoy Rusisan and wish that they will visit our country once again in the future.

However today we are welcoming a new student at Enjoy Russian. His name is Tim, and he is from the Netherlands. He will be here for 4 weeks. A lot of interesting affairs are planed for him this week as usual. At the moment Tim is having an excursion through Petrozavodsk with our volunteer Ksusha “Speedy”. On Thursday he will enjoy a presentation about Russia and Karelia, and at the weekend he will have fun in one of Petrozavodsk night clubs. Neverless it is not the whole list of pleasant moments with which Tim will definitely face. Now he is the only one foreign student in the school Enjoy Russian, that’s why all our volunteers will entertain Tim with pleasure ;)

Today is Monday, the snow is everywhere! But is fine for our guest Kevin and Daniela. Kevin from Ireland has already stayed in Russia for a week. One more week is waiting for him. And these 7 days seem to be full of activities and emotions. He will go to the theatre, take part in the National Food Party, have a long walk-trip around Ptz taking pictures and enjoying the beginning of winter. Besides Kevin can feel the atmosphere of one of the most popular games in Russia and Petrozavodsk too. It is some kind of Comedy club – The club of funny and smart (KVN), which is held in Petrozavodsk State University. So he has an opportunity to appreciate sense of humor of Russian students. Moreover two of our volunteers Ksusha and Masha will also appear on the stage this evening ;)
By the way it is the last week for Daniela’s staying in Russia. This trip was a real challenge for her, but she has done it!!! Russian language course and her work as a volunteer are over. So the review of her volunteer’s activity you can see here http://enjoyrussian.com/3661/8414/.
Next week Russian language school Enjoy Russian will open its door to new student from the Netherlands - Tim.

Nowadays two foreign students are studying at Russian language school Enjoy Russian. Daniela continues to work as a volunteer with children. She enjoys this affair very much. Soon she will share her experience at our site (http://enjoyrussian.com/) in the section Useful info.
By the way today we welcome a new student from Ireland – Kevin. Students from Trinity College have studied at Enjoy Russian for many years. So it really became a good tradition! We hope that we can greet more and more new students from this college in the future! A very interesting program is offered to Kevin during this week. Today is his first day in Petrozavodsk so the first thing is an excursion around the city with Russian volunteers, see all places of interest. Moreover Kevin will see a presentation about Russia and Karelia, and visit Regional museum. Besides he has a unique opportunity to go to the theatre, because it is a season of many different performances (in summer time it is impossible). And of course he can feel the atmosphere of night Petrozavodsk, so on the weekend our Russian volunteers will go with Kevin to a night club or may be night clubs... We hope that he will enjoy Russian language, Russian culture and Russian people very much!

Last week our Center “Initiative” organized 2 arrangements.

The first one “Осень.fi” was open for all people from Petrozavodsk. During this meeting Russian youth had a possibility to know more about our neighbor country Finland, to take nice pictures, to dance polish polka and to speak Finnish during language master-class Enjoy Finnish! Now we feel that Suomi is even closer than we suppose!

The second arrangement was called “Swiss chocolate in Russian paper-cover”. It was organized special for children interesting in German.

Our student Daniela (at the moment she is volunteering with children) prepared an interesting program for Russian curious children! We would like to thank Daniela for this funny Sunday’s day!

At the weekend the students as usual had a rich outdoor program. First of all on Saturday they visited the local night club FM. There we danced, enjoyed Russian modern music and had a lot of fun: the guys met some more volunteers of the centre Initiative and just youth people from Petrozavodsk.
The next thing to do was to visit open-air museum Kizhi and on Sunday the students of Russian Language School Enjoy Russian went there to see that well-known place with their own eyes.
Though the guys were a bit tired after yesterday’s visit of the night club :) everyone liked Kizhi Island very much and had a wonderful time there taking pictures, enjoying unforgettable nature and observing wooden churches and chapels. The weather was also wonderful and sunny all day long, so we didn’t have to worry about umbrellas :) Hope the summer won’t leave Karelia in the nearest future!

July 29th, 2009

This weekend seemed to be very sunny and warm, so the volunteers organized a picnic for our guests. We went to the beach and had fun there playing volleyball, singing Russian songs and speaking Russian a lot. The students got acquainted with some new volunteers they haven’t met before. One of the volunteers Andrey played the guitar and the guys liked the song “Alie Parusa”, which means “Red Sails” most of all. But suddenly it started raining! Nevertheless we have had a great time together at the picnic.

And today students from Enjoy Russian language school are going for rafting! We suppose that this will be a great adventure for them…
